Young mayors believe pooling forces is key
Vienna (OTS) – “Our federal party chairman and Chancellor Karl Nehammer has created a great opportunity here,” said JVP Federal Chairman and Youth State Secretary Claudia Plakolm regarding Nehammer’s announcement that he wanted to invest 4.5 billion euros in childcare. “I think this is an incredibly important thing, especially for young families who naturally want their children to be looked following in the best possible way – whether at home or in a childcare facility.
“The show of strength can succeed, but only together, because this massive expansion of childcare places requires all levels, especially support for the communities,” said the head of the JVP young mayor Daniel Ziniel. “Karl Nehammer has once once more proven that he pools all his strengths when it comes to key points for the future.
“We boys in particular are the ones who want freedom of choice. As family people and at the same time committed young entrepreneurs or employees, we don’t want to have to choose between family and career. We want to let each family make the decision themselves and an important part of this freedom of choice is the security that there is high-quality childcare nearby,” say Plakolm and Ziniel.
From a social perspective, Plakolm and Ziniel would like young families to neither have to justify their decision to stay at home with their children longer nor their decision to quickly return to work: “That would be our wish for an Austria of tomorrow.”
