Former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has been handed another ban and fine. Because the Italian record champions are said to have falsified the books under his leadership during the CoV pandemic, Agnelli was banned for 16 months by the sports court of the Italian Football Association (FIGC) and must also pay a fine of 60,000 euros. The association announced this on Monday.

The case is regarding the fact that Juventus allegedly negotiated a four-month salary waiver with its players in spring 2020. This was taken as a sign of the solidarity of the soccer millionaires and was also recorded as such in the balance sheets. Secretly, however, the club made agreements with the professionals to reimburse them for their monthly salaries at a later date.
Agnelli resigned with the entire Juventus board at the end of 2022. He was then banned by the association because the Turin team had falsified the market values of players under his aegis for years in order to be able to book higher amounts on the transfer market through deals with other clubs. Agnelli has already been banned for two years for that offense.
Club penalized with deduction of points
After the verdict had already been confirmed by the highest court in Italy, Agnelli is now taking action before ordinary courts. Juventus as a club and other former top managers were also accused of CoV salaries – but they recently negotiated a deal with the prosecutors, which, among other things, provides for the club to pay a fine of 718,000 euros. Because of the falsified market values, Juve lost ten points in the championship.
Due to the point deduction, the record champions missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last season and only finished one place in the Conference League. In Italy, however, it is expected that UEFA will deal with the case and possibly exclude the club from all international competitions.
