The highest sports court in Italy ruled today, Thursday, to suspend the penalty of deducting 15 points from Juventus on the background of illegal financial activity, indicating the need to review the case.
With this decision, the Turin giants return to third place in the league standings table with 59 points, but they must wait for a new ruling from the court of the Italian Football Association, which imposed the original penalty.
And before returning the points to Juventus, the team was facing the specter of absence from the European championships during the next season, in light of its distance from the advanced positions in the Italian League.
But he had another chance to be in the Champions League by winning the European League title, as he won the first leg of the quarter-finals at home to Sporting Lisbon, Portugal, 1-0, and he will meet with him this Thursday evening in the return match.
On January 20, the Court of Appeal of the Italian Football Federation deducted 15 points from Juventus’ balance for recording – according to sports justice – regularly exaggerated capital gains in its accounts when selling some players.

The club, nicknamed “The Old Lady”, announced that it would appeal the decision to the Arbitration Committee of the Italian Olympic Committee to cancel this penalty.
In a statement, the Italian Olympic Committee’s Sports Insurance Board asked the federation’s court to review the penalties imposed on the club and some key figures, including Czech Pavel Nedved, former vice-chairman of the board of directors, who was punished under the original ruling.
The long-standing bans imposed on former chairman Andrea Agnelli, former chief executive Maurizio Arrivabene, and sporting directors Federico Cherubini and Fabio Parazzi are maintained.
Agnelli resigned as president of Juventus, and the rest of the club’s board of directors also resigned in late November, days before the plaintiffs requested a trial.
