Juventus beat Sassuolo to reach the Italian Cup semi-finals (video)

Juventus beat its guest Sassuolo 2-1 on Thursday at Allianz Stadium in Turin, in the Italian Cup quarter-finals.

Juventus’ goals were scored by Paulo Dybala in the third minute, and Rowan Tresoldi (Sassuolo player) by an own goal in the 88th minute, while Hamed Traore scored Sassuolo’s only goal, in the 24th minute.

Juventus qualified for the semi-finals, where it will meet Fiorentina, while Inter Milan will face its rival AC Milan in the second semi-final.

Dybala managed to advance quickly to Juventus in the third minute, following a ball from Weston McKinney inside the penalty area, to hit the goal, but his shot hit one of the defenders and reached Dybala, who shot it into the net.

In the 24th minute, Hamed Traore scored the equalizer for Sassuolo, following he penetrated and fired a powerful shot, which goalkeeper Perin only watched.

And goalkeeper Pegolo starred to deny Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic a goal in the 37th minute, following an excellent long ball from Leonardo Bonucci, which reached Vlahovic, who set off and hit a ground ball that the goalkeeper stopped.

With the beginning of the second half, Juventus got a corner kick, executed by Juan Cuadrado, and Matthias de Ligt headed it, which passed in front of the goal line before the defense dispersed it.

On the other hand, Berardi passed a cross from the right, into the Juventus penalty area, to rise to Sakamaka above the defenders, and turned it with a header that topped goalkeeper Perin’s crossbar.

In the 88th minute, Vlahovic caused a fatal goal for Juventus, following he passed one of the Sassuolo players and hit the ball, hitting the defender Rowan and changing its direction and into the net, ending the match with a 2-1 victory for Juventus.

The Coppa Italia semi-final first leg matches will be played on Wednesday 2 March, while the return matches will be held on Wednesday 20 April.

Fiorentina qualified
Fiorentina had qualified for the Italian Cup semi-finals, following beating Atalanta 3/2 in the quarter-finals.

Fiorentina opened the scoring in the ninth minute, with Krzysztof Piatek signing from a penalty kick, then Davy Zappacosta equalized for Atalanta in the 30th minute.

Jeremy Brugga boosted Atalanta’s lead in the 56th minute, before Piatek equalized the score for Fiorentina in the 71st minute.

Fiorentina played deficient from the 79th minute, following Lucas Martinez was sent off with a second yellow card, but he managed to score the victory through Nikola Milenkovic, in the last moments, in the 90 + 3 minute.

And Juventus is the champion of the last edition of the Italian Cup, following its 2-1 victory over Atlanta in the final match, knowing that Juventus is the most crowned club with 14 titles, compared to 9 times for Rome, and 7 times for Lazio and Inter Milan.

While Napoli won the title 6 times, as well as Fiorentina, while Milan won the Italian Cup 5 times, the same number of Turin titles in the same competition.
