ENTREPRENEUR Jusuf Hamka has submitted a letter of resignation from the Golkar Party. He also conveyed the message that Indonesia is actually fine even though political parties are not.

“Indonesia will be fine even though its political parties may not be fine,” said Jusuf Hamka at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Monday (12/8).

The reason for his resignation was because of family factors that pushed him. His wife and children asked him to step down from politics. “Great strength, yes the strength of my wife and children who told me to step down. That is the greatest strength for me in the family.”

He confirmed that he had ended his political term. Jusuf Hamka admitted that he only wanted to be an ordinary citizen and help the government. “However, I will continue to play a role, especially in the social sector. I will help the government to handle social problems and help the government also with infrastructure problems,” he said.

Jusuf Hamka has submitted a letter of resignation addressed to the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Golkar Party, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus. However, he did not meet Lodewijk directly and the letter was received by staff.

“Mr. Secretary General still has other events. I think we don’t need to bother each other. We only submit the letter, the important thing is that the gist has been received,” he said. (J-2)
