Businessman and Golkar Party cadre Jusuf Hamka admitted that he doubted Airlangga Hartarto’s resignation from the general chairman’s seat due to personal reasons. However, he also did not want to speculate about any element of coercion against Airlangga.
“Well, I also don’t know who forced him. Even if it was his personal wish, I also doubt it if asked. But if there was someone who forced him to resign or not, God knows, only God knows,” said Jusuf Hamka at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Slipi, West Jakarta, today.
Jusuf Hamka was also confirmed about Airlangga’s resignation due to pressure from the Palace. He admitted that he did not know any further.
“I’m not sure, I just felt like a breeze passing by. I just heard something uncertain. Well, you guys know better about the certainty, how come I have to teach a duck to swim,” said Jusuf Hamka.
Airlangga Hartarto officially resigned as general chairman of the Golkar Party since Saturday evening, August 10, 2024. He took the decision after careful consideration and to maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party.
“To maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party in order to ensure the stability of the government transition that will occur in the near future,” said Airlangga via video statement yesterday.
