Canadian Prime Minister Justin trudeau’s eldest son, Xavier, has entered the music scene with his debut single “Til the Nights Done,” a moody R&B track released on Friday at 12 a.m. ET.
The 17-year-old artist, who goes by the stage name Xav, showcases a smooth vocal delivery reminiscent of canadian music stars Drake and Justin Bieber. Notably,he sings,”What you know about me,I ain’t like him,” hinting at the challenges of navigating life in the public eye as the son of a prominent figure.
Featuring additional vocals from his sister Ella-Grace Trudeau,”Til the Nights Done” is available on major streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
According to lyrics posted online, Xav sings, “We could dim em all down or leave the lights on. baby we could move in slow motion til the nights done.” Produced by Vishal “Duava” Daluwatte and recorded, mixed, and mastered in Ottawa by Joey “Tekika” Boyer, the song reflects the vibe Xav envisioned for his first release, according to Pathway Music Group, the management company representing him.
“‘Til the nights done’ is a dark, mysterious RnB song that fits the vibe Xav wanted for his first release,” said Daluwatte and Boyer. “The song is about someone who has true understanding and an emotional connection to someone while knowing they can’t truly be together.”
Pathway Music Group says Xav draws inspiration from artists like Don Toliver, drake, and Post Malone, and plans to release more music and perform live shows in the near future. A music video for “Til the Nights Done,” which was teased on Instagram last month, premiered on Xav’s YouTube channel on Friday afternoon.
Breaking Through the Shadow
Toronto-based music publicist Eric Alper believes that Xav’s self-awareness is key to his success. He found the lyrics, “What you know about me, I ain’t like him,” to be especially insightful, indicating that Xav understands the challenges of escaping his father’s shadow.
“the fact that he’s got that kind of self-awareness shows me that he knows that we’re all thinking that the ‘him’ in the song is about his dad, and that’s pretty key when stepping into the public eye,” alper explained.
Despite online commentary focused on his parentage,Alper advises Xav to embrace his artistic vision.
“Get off of social media for the next 72 hours, don’t look at comments, don’t let the good stuff go to your head, don’t let the bad stuff go your head,” Alper said. “If he can actually back up the strong songwriting and the consistent releases, he’s got a real shot at carving out his own space in the industry.”
Xavier Trudeau’s debut single is a compelling introduction to his musical journey. whether he chooses to directly address his connection to his father or forge his own path, Xav’s talent and dedication are undeniable.

crafting His Signature Sound
AN: who inspired your smooth vocal delivery, reminiscent of fellow canadian artists like drake and Justin Bieber?
XT: I’m a big fan of Don Toliver, Drake, and Post Malone. Their music really inspires me,but I’m always striving to find my own voice within that. I’m constantly listening, learning, and refining my sound.
Navigating the Spotlight
AN: the line ‘What you know about me, I ain’t like him’ suggests you’re aware of the expectations that come with your last name. How do you handle the public interest in your personal life?
XT: Yeah, I’m very aware that people might have preconceived notions about me because of my dad.But music is my passion, and I want people to judge me based on my talent and what I put out, not just who my family is. It’s a challenge, but I’m up for it.
What’s Next for Xav?
AN: Now that ‘Til the Nights Done’ is out, what can fans expect next?
XT: I’ve got more music on the way, and I’m really excited to perform live. I think there’s something special about connecting with an audience in person, and I can’t wait to do that.
Thoughts from Music Publicist Eric Alper

AN: Xav, what do you think about Eric’s advice to embrace your artistic vision and focus on consistent releases?
XT: I think Eric’s onto something. I just want to make great music and connect with people, and I’m going to do that by staying true to myself and keeping my eyes on the prize.
