Justin Timberlake makes comeback | Top 40 News

Every week we list the hottest new releases for you. This week there is music from Justin Timberlake, Rondé, Bilal Wahib, Dotan and Lil Nas X, among others.

SELFISH – Justin Timberlake
In 2018, Justin Timberlake released Man Of The Woods and that is still his last album to date. It included the hit Say Something (with Chris Stapleton). Good news for fans of Jimmy Fellon’s ‘President Of Pop’: new work is on the way. Selfish is the first taste of the album Everything I Thought It Was, which will be released on March 15. Last year, Timbaland revealed that he was working on a new album for the American star. According to him, the singer is returning to the sound of the album FutureSex / LoveSounds. “It’s nothing too heavy, it just gives you what you would expect from us: not overdone, the lyrics are not that deep, it’s danceable R&B music. Music is a young sport and you have to keep it fun, fun and young.”

UNDECIDED – Rondé
After Break My Heart, music became a bit quieter around Rondé and that had a reason, singer Rikki Borgelt said in the 1000th Q-Afternoon show by Domien Verschuuren on Qmusic. “We continued writing anyway, but we also put the focus back on live for a while. We are slowly but surely expanding this further. The shows are getting bigger and with it our love for doing it bigger and bigger. We didn’t want to release anything again until we thought: we believe in that.” That moment is now, via Undecided. “Today we live in a world where you can keep an eye on everyone. You can open Instagram or whatever app you’re on and you can see what people are doing. But this also means that people make nasty comments and have a lot of prejudices about other people and immediately disapprove of the behavior of others. I think it is very important that you as a person can love yourself very much and actually continue to follow your own path. Make your own choices, do what feels right for you and don’t listen to the opinions of others. That’s what Undecided is about.”

RUINED – Bilal Wahib ft. Zoe Tauran
Zoë Tauran started the year well by performing next to the biggest Dutch acts of the moment in Rotterdam Ahoy, during Friends of Amstel Live. In the meantime, she also scored a big Top 40 hit with Alles Op Gevoel (with Flemming and Ronnie Flex), the title song of the concert series. Another Top 40 hit could be on its way, because the singer entered the studio again with Bilal Wahib. With him she scored her first hit in the List of Lists in 2022, via Solo, which reached number 26. This time the roles are reversed and Zoë is a guest on a Bilal track. Ruined is about a broken relationship. Bilal sings that he is in sackcloth and ashes because his great love has left him. Had he made wrong choices? Was he really that bad for her? For the Amsterdammer it could be his first Top 40 hit since Love Song (with Trobi and Ronnie Flex), which reached 28 last year.

BEAT OF YOUR HEART – Purple Disco Machine & Ásdís
Last summer, Purple Disco Machine, Kungs and Julian Perretta scored a huge hit with Substitution, which spent 22 weeks in the Top 40 and peaked at number 5. This was followed by Something On My Mind, a surprising combination with Nothing But Thieves and Duke Dumont. That became a smaller hit, but another in a series of airplay hits. Beat Of Your Heart is the latest single from German producer Tino Piontek, the man behind Purple Disco Machine. With this he returns to the sound of hits such as In The Dark, with a disco-like groove. The singer you hear is Ásdís. An Icelandic woman who has lived in Berlin for years and has already worked with Deadmau5 and Daði Freyr, who we know from the Eurovision Song Contest.

DOPAMINE – Adriaan Persons
It is purely a coincidence, but Adriaan Persons’ new track is released at the same time as Rondé’s latest work, of which Adriaan was part of for years. The singer-songwriter and producer decided to leave the group just before the success of Hard To Say Goodbye and chart his own course. He is now a much sought-after producer and writer for Maan and Flemming, among others, but he is also working on a solo career. Via Tonight She Comes to Me we were already introduced to his new direction: Dutch-language music, with a lot of catchiness. On Dopamine, the singer refers to ‘the happiness hormone’ in the brain. Each time, the brain stimulates behavior that we like and releases dopamine. That creates a pleasant feeling. For Adriaan, the woman of his dreams is his dopamine. His Dopamine is also very danceable.
