Justin Timberlake Cleared of DUI Charges Amid Claims of Police Errors

Change of situation. While he had been arrested behind the wheel of his BMW last month in the very posh Hamptons for “presumed driving under the influence,” it has now been learned that singer Justin Timberlake was, in fact, not drunk. According to his lawyer, Edward Burke, it seems that several mistakes were made by law enforcement, and Timberlake should not have been arrested that night.

Accusations based on procedural errors according to his lawyer

The 43-year-old singer, currently on tour in Europe, was supposed to appear via videoconference before a court located on Long Island, about 160 km east of New York. He ultimately allowed his lawyer to speak, and Burke stated that the police acted incorrectly, claiming that Timberlake “was not drunk” and that the accusations were based on procedural errors. The police had previously reported that Timberlake had “bloodshot eyes” and “the smell of alcohol” on his breath. The arrest occurred after Timberlake failed to stop at a stop sign and had difficulty keeping his vehicle on the correct path.

Despite his lawyer’s claims, authorities in Suffolk County had indicated that Timberlake admitted to the facts during his arrest. The star will have to present his explanations via video on August 2.
