Dhe US golf pro Justin Thomas won the 104th US PGA Championship in Tulsa following a turbulent final round. He defeated fellow countryman Will Zalatoris in a three-hole playoff. The 29-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, has now won 15 tournaments on the American circuit, including the US PGA Championship for the first time in 2017. Bernd Wiesberger from Burgenland improved and shared 30th place with a total of 283 strokes.
He had completed his performance at the PGA Championship for professional golfers in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a par of 70. Wiesberger’s compatriot Sepp Straka finished with a 76 and found himself at the bottom of the weekend field.
Wiesberger had three bogeys, which he made up for with three birdies. He was his second-best round at the Major, having moved into the top 20 on Friday with a 67. Straka was in front of Wiesberger following the opening lap, but then gradually fell behind. With a total of 298 strokes and thus 15 more, he found himself in 78th place. The 29-year-old was not spared a double bogey on Sunday either. US superstar Tiger Woods was tied with Straka following rounds two and three and dropped out of the major before the last round.
