The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported the arrest of Allan “N” this Sunday and he entered the Barrientos Prison in preventive detention, as a probable person responsible for the feminicide of the medical student, Ana María “N” de 18 years old, following being attacked at her home on September 12.
“My daughter, Ana María Serrano Céspedes, was the victim of a femicide allegedly by her ex-boyfriend Allan Gil Romero on September 12, 2023 in our house,” explains Ximena Céspedes, the young woman’s mother, by spreading the case in a video. message-uploaded to social networks, accompanied with the Hashtag #JusticiaparaAnaMaría.
In what would be the first case of feminicide attended to at the beginning of the six-year term of Governor Delfina Gómez Alvarez, the young woman’s mother explains that her daughter just two months ago, with great effort, entered a career in Medicine and dreamed of being a cardiologist.
“Ana María was a wonderful girl in every sense of the word, she touched all the hearts she came across, witness to this are the hundreds of people who have been present at the events to say goodbye to her, all with tears in their eyes, confusion in the look,” Ximena Céspedes adds in her message.
“Just one request Justice for Ana María,” cries Mrs. Ximena. She adds that Allan “N” “not only took my daughter away from us, but also our freedom and tranquility. We cannot return to our home, and those of us who were nearby that day fear for our safety. Ana María now rests in peace, but all of us who knew her will not do so until justice is done. The fact does not go unpunished, let femicides end in Mexico. Justice for Ana María.”
The case came to public opinion due to the message spread by the victim’s mother, which immediately began to be replicated. Friends, students, colleagues of the young woman, groups and various voices on social networks demand the maximum sentence for the detainee.
The FGJEM reported that ministerial agents of the institution’s Attorney General’s Office for Crimes Linked to Gender Violence detained Allan “N” this Sunday, however, they failed to expand the information on the crime.
The FGJEM was consulted regarding the legal situation of the detainee and whether security will be granted to the victim’s relatives who fear for their personal safety, but there was no response from the institution.
The young woman was attacked by the detainee on September 12 when she was alone at her home on Torre de Támesis Street in the Condado de Sayavedra residential subdivision.
The Settlers Association of the Condado de Sayavedra subdivision this Sunday expressed their solidarity with Ana María’s family in a statement. They stated that crime offends the entire community of the subdivision, adding that high-impact crimes “are terrible” and suggested that something must be done to stop them.
