This morning, the Canadian took to the ice in Brossard to prepare for the upcoming trip. We’re talking regarding a four-game trip (Buffalo, St. Louis, Minnesota and Winnipeg) that will start this followingnoon with a day of travel.
What do I learn from practice?
1. Along with the others, Juraj Slafkovsky jumped onto the ice. The first overall pick, who hadn’t skated since last Thursday, doesn’t necessarily look ready to return, but at least he’s skating.
He will meet the therapists following the practice and that’s when we will know more.
#Habs Juraj Slafkovský is on the ice ahead of #GoHabsGo practice today, which is a good sign.
Josh Anderson and Chris Wideman will not practice (maintenance day for both players)

2. Corey Schueneman, which was ceded to the Rocket, wasn’t at the CH practice because it’s not just a paper transaction. Nicholas Beaudin, who was acquired from the Blackhawks in the final minuteswill also take the road to Laval.
Right now, the Canadian has only six healthy defenders to go on the road. Because yes, Kaiden Guhle was in training with his teammates this morning.
The group will still have seven defenders on the road since Joel Edmundson will also board the plane.
It is a sign of an increasingly imminent return. Note that this morning, he trained with the others with a contactless jersey. He also guided the stretches at the end. Will this make Arber Xhekaj jump? Chris Wideman? Johnathan Kovacevic?
Edmundson does the stretches in the center.
It feels like the return tomorrow! #CH @lapochebleue pic.twitter.com/T0fkSes50t— Raphael Doucet (@raphdoucet) October 26, 2022
3. Joel Armia also took part in the practice. He wore, like the other Joel, a jersey prohibiting his teammates from tackling him since he is not yet ready.
His return is still approaching for him too, I imagine.
– Slafkovsky practices with the team and will meet with the therapists followingwards. We will know more then.
– Nicolas Beaudin will report directly @RocketLaval
– Joel Edmundson and Joel Armia have non-contact jerseys, but will make the trip.#CH #Habs— Raphael Doucet (@raphdoucet) October 26, 2022
4. Josh Anderson and Chris Wideman were out of practice due to a day of treatment. Both men should however be able to play tomorrow.
So you don’t have to be “worried” regarding Wideman.
The #CH informs us that Josh Anderson and Chris Wideman will miss training to undergo treatment. Joel Armia and Joel Edmundson are training without contact, but will be on the trip. @RDSca

Note that there are no changes to announce for the rest of the training. We note that it was Michael Pezzetta who took the place of Josh Anderson in training.
So it shouldn’t change tomorrow night… unless Samuel Montembeault is entitled to a start?
A lot of
– Good point.
There is one thing that I wish with all my heart is that the CH decides to keep William Trudeau in Laval despite the acquisition of Nicolas Beaudin today. The young man told me yesterday that no decision had been made to stay in Laval. It turned out a pro in my opinion.

– Things are moving in Laval.
The Rocket acquires forward Riley McKay from the Rockford IceHogs, the Blackhawks’ farm club. He divides his time between Rockford and Indianapolis in the ECHL. A former Saskatoon Blades in the Junior League West. It will surely be sent to TR.

– Jeremy Swayman isn’t exactly on fire. [TSLH]
– Not ideal.
#Leafs have placed Jake Muzzin on LTIR.
The move adds $5,625,000 to Toronto’s LTI Salary pool.

– Oui.
