Jura rids its new Ono coffee machine of its grinder

The Jura Ono coffee machine is perplexing when you discover it. Indeed, it does not look at all like what the brand has accustomed us to. Instead of the bean container, there is a hole in which to put already ground coffee, which can only contain a single dose of between 7 and 14 g. According to the manufacturer, this makes it possible to vary the types of coffee cup by cup. By turning the ball-handle at the top of the Ono counterclockwise, this ground coffee trap is closed. The preparation continues with a firm pressure on said handle, a gesture which causes the powder to be packed into a filter holder. All that remains is to choose the type of coffee you want to taste by pressing one of the two buttons also placed on the top of the Ono.

The Ono is therefore not an automatic machine with a grinder, but rather sides with the various iterations of the Delonghi Specialista or the Sage Oracle Touch. The powder packing system is just a bit different. Without being technically limited, the Jura Ono is not what one might call a general-purpose machine, since it can only deliver espresso or coffee. There is no question here of dozens of recipes, dairy or not, that the user might set up in the smallest details. In the same vein, it seems devoid of additional features, even a double dispensing nozzle to serve two coffees simultaneously.

Nevertheless, Jura promises that the percolation process used by the Ono is quite similar to that of the Swiss brand’s automatic grinder machines. And that’s what counts for the espresso lovers for whom it is intended.

Good point, this relative deprivation limits the price of Ono. It was launched at €349, a floor price in the manufacturer’s catalog.
