Jura Arc: Illegal garbage dumps? “It’s everywhere”
Citizens denounce the absence of collection during public holidays. “We no longer know what to do”, reacts a voyer-chief.
A wild deposit which is a stain in Delémont (JU) and an overflowing ecopoint in Bevaix (JU) arouse the anger of taxpayers, in the Jura arc. In Delémont, an image was sent to the mayor as a greeting card, while in Bevaix, a photo was posted on Facebook.
In the Jura capital, Mayor Damien Chappuis received the photo of a wild deposit taken on Sunday January 1, as reported by “The Jura Daily“. Garbage was piled up south of the station, on rue du Voirnet, in a residential and industrial district.
Full of bundles
“Wild dumping of rubbish? They’re everywhere in town. We don’t know what to do anymore, ”reacted the voyer-chief Antoine Flury. While the paper collection was taking place on Wednesday, the day before there was “already full of bundles of old paper in front of houses and buildings”, according to his observation.
In Delémont, litter is not immediately picked up by the road, in the vain hope of making the perpetrators of the incivility responsible. “When we have a camera in a place, cleanliness comes back very quickly,” said the voyer-chief to “QJ”.
Create a debate
In Bevaix, the photo of a mountain of waste was taken on the evening of Monday January 2, near the Coop. “What a shame!” Kira commented. The author of this publication relayed by “ArcInfowants to “simply create a debate around the incivility of citizens”.
At Grande Béroche, where twelve ecopoints are available, including three in Bevaix, the basic tax is 90 francs per year, to which is added a fee proportional to the size of the household. For Valérie, the shame is having to pay an annual tax of 245 francs for ecopoints that are not emptied on January 2.
Not all mad
“Saturday, the cardboard dumpsters were already full,” adds Sandrine on Facebook. But not all internet users are upset: “Difficult to anticipate so much waste, which also changes depending on the number of mail order orders”, writes Chris, specifying that January 2 was a public holiday. Pickup took place the next day.
“If the population wants this service, no problem. But she will have to put her hand in the wallet”, replied to “ArcInfo” the municipal councilor Maxime Rognon. “Instead of piling up your waste in the same way, storing it for a few days on your doorstep or on your balcony does not seem like a sea to drink to me…”, added this elected official.
