Juno space mission sees ‘giants and fairies’ in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere: NASA

NASA has revealed that the robotic space mission ‘Juno’ has spotted supernatural creatures ‘giants and fairies’ in the upper atmosphere of Jupiter.

It may sound like something out of a fantasy novel, but sprites and elves are actually 2 types of lightning-fast scenes.

Although this lightning-like flash is seen on Earth, it is the first time such scenes have been seen on another planet.

According to a CNN report, sprites are intelligent, fairy-like creatures in European mythology, while in science they are bright centers of light that are triggered by lightning and appear above storms.

These scenes are usually seen on Earth at an altitude of regarding 60 miles above large storms.

Although the light from these sky-illuminating sprites can spread 15 to 30 miles away, the streak lasts only a few milliseconds.

These centers of light appear in the form of jellyfish, moving towards the earth and the sky at the same time.

Eloise, on the other hand, is a scientific name for light emission and very low frequency disturbances caused by electromagnetic pulse sources that look like lightning flashes.

Elves look like a parallel disk and can spread up to 200 miles across a large area of the sky.

Rohini S. Giles, a scientist working on the Juno mission and the author of the study, said that sprites and elves on Earth appear red because of a reaction with nitrogen in the upper atmosphere.

He said that at high altitudes on Jupiter, hydrogen is present in the atmosphere, due to which sprites and elves can appear blue or even pink.

The research was published Oct. 27 in the Planetary Series in the Journal of Geophysical Research.

Scientists predict that Jupiter’s atmosphere and abundant storms may confirm the existence of bright scenes that have not been observed before.

Which has since helped scientists understand and write regarding Jupiter better than ever before.

The spacecraft’s instruments included ultraviolet spectrographs that took aurora (color) images of ultraviolet lights visible in Jupiter.
