Junior World Ski Championships: Upper Austrian Nicole Eibl won Super-G bronze

Nicole Eibl only made it into the Austrian team for the Junior World Ski Championships in Portes du Soleil (France) at the last moment due to an injury-related absence. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old from Asvö SV Spital am Pyhrn stood on the victory podium. In the Super G, she took the bronze medal behind the Swiss Malorie Blanc and her ÖSV teammate Viktoria Bürgler, although she was not completely satisfied with her ride.

“Winning a World Cup medal is crazy”

“My line wasn’t optimal, but I tried to get the skis to move correctly and I succeeded quite well. Getting a World Cup medal is amazing,” said Eibl, who is practically in the ÖSV’s development squad “Waiting room” for a call-up to a “real” ÖSV squad. This means that she is dependent on the support of the state ski association or her club SV Spital, and the family can take on the role of main sponsor.

“Huge joy and reward”

“This medal is a huge joy and a reward for the fact that she subordinates everything to skiing,” says Claudia Eibl, the mother of the Ski-HAK Schladming student. She was racing herself on Wednesday – as a helper at the first FIS Super-G on the Wurzeralm. The second race followed today. Your daughter is supposed to take part in the team competition at the World Cup.
