A student of SMPN 101 Palmerah Jakarta who was a kidnapping victim admitted to being traumatized. She was kidnapped using a new method by picking up the victim at school under the pretext of being the victim’s parents. The perpetrator abused and robbed the victim of her valuables.
“When the incident happened, he was so shocked that he kept saying, ‘Mom, am I still alive? Is it true, Mom, can you see me?’. Yes, it’s true, you’re still alive,” said the victim’s mother in a video broadcast on the Instagram of the Head of Sub-Directorate of Jatanras, Directorate of Criminal Investigation, Polda Metro Jaya, quoted on Saturday (3/8),
The victim with the initials S told the chronology of the incident. The incident occurred on Thursday (25/7) morning when the victim came early to school because he had a duty.
“I have OSIS duty at school, I have to be present at school at 05.40 WIB,” said the victim.
After arriving at school, the perpetrator told the school security guard that the victim’s mother had an accident. S panicked upon hearing the information.
“Because I panicked, I approached the school guard on the field. There was a man I didn’t know who described my mother and said that my mother had an accident,” said S.

However, it was just a ruse by the perpetrator. The victim went with the perpetrator and was taken to the pedestrian bridge (JPO) across from the DPR/MPR RI building, Central Jakarta.
The victim was dropped from the motorbike and immediately smothered. The victim was strangled and threatened with a cutter knife to hand over his valuables.
“He asked for my ring, my earrings, my cellphone. Because I was afraid, I handed over the items,” he said.

The perpetrator with the initials FA has now been arrested in the Bendungan Hilir area, Central Jakarta.
Head of Sub-Directorate of Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya AKB Rovan Richard Mahenu said that the kidnapping was a new mode. He asked the public to be more vigilant.
“Beware of a new modus operandi. A junior high school student was kidnapped while at school. The perpetrator said that her mother had an accident,” said Rovan in his statement, Friday (2/8). (P-5)
