LR Teschl-Hofmeister: Preparing for the world of work with creative business ideas

St. Pölten (OTS) – This school year, a junior company with an entrepreneurial spirit is once once more starting up at the Agricultural Technical School (LFS) Pyhra. The second-year students majoring in “Operations and Budget Management” founded the company with the resounding name “Crispy Seeds”. Various types of pastries are made from the oven, the ingredients of which come primarily from school businesses and businesses in the region. “The students from the Pyhra technical school impressively show that they can set up an innovative company that focuses on nutrition and sustainability. By using regional and seasonal ingredients for the pastry variations, the young entrepreneurs also show creativity in the bakery,” emphasizes State Councilor for Education Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister. “I would especially like to thank the teachers who accompany the young people on their first steps into business life so that the creative business ideas can be implemented in the best possible way,” said Teschl-Hofmeister.

“The students from the junior company modified the recipe for the popular Italian almond pastry Cantuccini and replaced it with low-calorie ingredients from the region. Walnuts are now used, refined with apples, dried aronia berries and various spices,” explains specialist teacher Gabriele Roitner-Blamauer, who supports the students in running the company. “When it comes to cheese crackers, special attention is paid to the climate footprint of the products used. “The apple cider vinegar comes from the school’s own production and the linseed, sesame and sunflower seeds come from local agriculture,” she adds.

As a culinary bonus, a chili dipping sauce was prepared, which is ideal for enjoying the cheese crackers. To ensure that the snacks stay crispy for longer, they are sold in attractive glasses.

The snacks can be purchased in the farm shop of the Pyhra technical school, which is open every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The junior company is also represented with a sales stand at events at the school and at the farm fair in Wieselburg.
