Women’s DOUBLE Riska Anggraini/Salsabila Zahra Aulia managed to qualify for the last 16 of the 2024 World Junior Championships. Riska/Salsa defeated the Vietnamese pair Bui Bich Phuong/Tran Thi Anh with a narrow score of 21-19, 24-22

This was the second meeting between the couple. The first meeting took place in the group stage of the 2024 Asian Junior Championship team event. At that time, Riska/Salsa also won with a tight score of 19-21, 21-13, 24-22.

“This is our second meeting and today they felt more fighting. We just prepared mentally because when it came to the technical aspects of the match, we both already knew their character,” said Salsa in his statement, Wednesday (9/10).

“We had a moment where we were too hasty and we lost a lot of points. In the final point, we were able to regain control of the game,” continued Salsa.

In the round of 16, Riska/Salsa will meet sixth seeds Ong Xin Yee/Carmen Ting from Malaysia. Improving communication and mental health is the focus of both.

“We have to improve our communication on the field for tomorrow’s match,” said Salsa.

Apart from Riska/Salsa, Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinara Nastine and Ardita Anjani/Titis Maulida Rahma also placed themselves in the round of 16.

Isyana/Rinjani overcame the resistance of Chinese Taipei pair Jheng Yu Chieh/Yu Yun Wang 21-14, 21-15 while Ardita/Titis beat New Zealand’s Liu Yanxi/Zhao Josephine 21-13, 21-11. (Z-9)
