(Ottawa) Wholesale trade sales, excluding petroleum, petroleum products and other hydrocarbons, and oilseeds and grains, fell 2.8% to $80.5 billion in June, a indicated Statistics Canada.

According to the federal agency, this decline in June was due to a decline in the miscellaneous products sub-sector, which fell 7.3% to 10.3 billion. This is mainly due to the 19.4% decrease in the agricultural products group, which stood at $3.3 billion.

The machinery, equipment and supplies subsector fell 4.2% to $17.8 billion.

The motor vehicles, parts and accessories subsector fell 3.1% to $13.2 billion, while the motor vehicles group fell 4.3% to $10. .6 billion.

In constant dollars, sales, excluding petroleum, petroleum products and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseeds and cereals, fell 3.7% in June.

Statistics Canada began including the oilseeds and grains group and the petroleum and petroleum products subsector in wholesale trade earlier this year, but is excluding the data from its monthly analysis until historical data is available for proper monthly and annual analysis.
