(Ecofin Agency) – Despite the late resumption of its air transport (February 7, 2022), Morocco has set itself the goal of reaching at least 75% of pre-pandemic traffic, according to the Minister of Transport, Mohammad Abdeljalil. An objective towards which the players in this industry are moving.
Passenger traffic at Moroccan airports reached 2,365,929 travelers in July 2022, representing 98% of 2019 figures for the same month, according to information notes published by the National Airports Office (ONDA) on August 18 and 19. last.
The report indicates that the cumulative monthly traffic from February 7, the date of resumption of international flights, to July 31 is 9,813,316 travelers, an activity rate achieved with 89,648 flights. These figures correspond respectively to 70% and 75% of the level of activity of 2019 for the period considered.
In the ranking of airports having recorded the best volumes of activity, the Mohammed V platform in Casablanca ranks 1time position with 3,622,300 passengers. It is followed by those of Marrakech (2,200,175 passengers) and Agadir (791,183 passengers).
This upward trend was also observed for air freight, whose volumes stood at 5,323 tonnes for July. The cumulative data from January to July 31, 2022 amount to 41,637 tonnes, with a recovery rate of 74%.
