The boxes are made, the trucks are reserved, the leases are signed: all that remains is to move in. These carefully planned plans, however, are at the mercy of the elements, and the weather can be a game changer.
What to expect for 2022?
Good news ! July 1, 2022 should be sunny and hot. The weather context is practically a copy-and-paste of this Sunday, when the southwest winds allowed the heat of the southern United States to pay a visit to La Belle Province. Mercury around 25°C, or even higher up to 30°C, is expected.
The problem: humidity would also be in the game. Felt temperatures might exceed the 35 mark in some places, especially in southern Quebec. Bad luck, it’s the only day where such a Humidex is expected. Forecasts may change over the next few days, and the situation will need to be monitored closely.
The risks of heat stroke are very present in such situations, especially when physical exertion is involved. Regular breaks in the shade and the wearing of a headgear are recommended.
Sweltering heat or heavy rain: anything is possible on July 1
When we compare ourselves, we console ourselves. 2018 is a bitter example: the temperatures felt close to 45, and oppressive humidity had been causing many headaches for several days.
Conversely, July 1, 2017 was relatively cool (with temperatures approaching 24°C) and pouring rain for certain sectors, including Gatineau. This is also the last time that precipitation was observed on July 1 in Montreal.
