Julius Randle to replace Anfernee Simons in 3-point contest

Recently injured in the ankle, Anfernee Simons will not be able to secure his place in the All-Star Weekend 3-point contest. His replacement ? He comes directly from New York: Julius Randle!

This Saturday’s sniper competition will therefore be accompanied by a little New York touch. As Shams Charania of The Athleticthe interior of the Knicks Julius Randle will take advantage of the Simons package to participate in the celebration.

Shooting at 34% 3-point success this season and 33% in career, Randle is not really what you would call a sniper. Admittedly, it can happen to him to catch fire on certain evenings, he who does not hesitate to draw from the parking lot as soon as the opportunity arises. We’re talking regarding a guy who has attempted at least 10 award-winning shots 19 times this season, and who has dropped 11 games with at least 5 3-point shots in. But overall, he is not in the same category as the specialists who will face him in two days.

Tyrese Haliburton, Tyler Herro, Buddy Hield, Kevin Huerter, Damian Lillard, Lauri Markkanen, Jayson Tatum, we can say that there are great people to animate the 3-point contest this year. So Julius will be very far from being one of the favorites. But who knows, on a misunderstanding…
