The Namur public prosecutor’s office and Child Focus issued a disappearance notice last Wednesday for a 17-year-old girl who was last seen six weeks ago in Vedrin, near Namur.
On Monday, November 14 around 2:30 p.m., Juliette Goormans was seen for the last time at the “Carrefour Market” store on rue Gustave Guidet in Vedrin. Since then, she has not appeared. Juliette measures 1m68 and is of slim build. She has brown eyes, shoulder length brown hair and has a mole above her lip. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a light blue jacket and black sneakers with a white sole. She is in possession of a fuchsia pink backpack brand “Kipling”. “Juliet is asked to contact her relatives in order to reassure them”said the prosecution.
Asked by our colleagues from SudPresse, his brother David, who thought of a runaway, no longer believes in this scenario. “It’s been fifty days since she left. It’s far too long. She would have been back since then”he confided.
According to him, his sister might have had a bad encounter. “I make films. After 50 days, the probability that something serious has happened to him is greater”he added.
All hypotheses are possible
Since the launch of a search notice, a series of checks have been carried out by the investigators. Juliette has already disappeared in the past, in 2020, for a few days at the Coast, in the North of France. What worries the authorities and his relatives today is the duration of this disappearance. Juliette Goormans has a slight mental retardation, which makes some of her relatives say that she is not independent, with this fear, that of a bad meeting.
“A 17-year-old girl with her psychological difficulties can be put in difficulty by the people who house her. All hypotheses are possible. She may have decided herself to leave her home. She may also have been helped by outside people. There may also have been an accident. All possible investigations are being carried out in real time by the police. What we are hoping for are new testimonies that will allow us to locate her, find her and save her. ‘to make sure she is in good health’, said Etienne Gaublomme, spokesman for the Namur prosecution.
