Julien Lacroix is relieved that The newspaper met, four days following the media premiere of his “comeback” show, which took place at Espace St-Denis. Family, friends, members of the public, colleagues in the industry and the media responded to the invitation of the man who almost gave up on this profession. “It’s a bit like the end of a chapter. We’re moving on to the next step,” he said.

Julien Lacroix was visibly lighter Monday morning at Marie-Louise, an establishment located above St-Denis. The majority of reviews of his new show last week have been positive.
Inviting the media was a risky exercise, admits the one who had been “cancelled” for several years. “I was happy that the journalists were nuanced and able to criticize the show without being just negative. [… ] I know the show isn’t perfect, and I was very stressed on the 7th [mars]but still I am proud of everything I say.”
In the first 20 minutes of his show Time to timeJulien Lacroix addresses the sex scandal in which he was plunged in the summer of 2020. He wanted to answer all the questions that people in the public were asking.
One of the women who accused him of sexual misconduct in the first report Duty – she had since recanted – even helped him clarify angles in his material. “She came to see the show at least five times and she told me challenged on certain things,” says Julien.

The relentlessness of Rosalie Vaillancourt
Even if he doesn’t hesitate to self-flagellate in this first segment of the show, the comedian’s bitterness towards certain people shines through. In particular, he sent two arrows to Rosalie Vaillancourt, who had been heavily involved in the first denunciations once morest him.
Why did he want to send her these two points? Faced with this question, Julien Lacroix thought long and hard regarding his answer. “I think Rosalie really took on my case. […] I asked to meet her three times. The third time, she told me “yes, I will come back to you”. In the end, she didn’t come back to me. […] If we list all the times she spoke once morest me and the lies that were told there, it deserved two little points which are not very bad either.
Rebuilding friendships
Julien Lacroix, however, wants to focus on the positive. Quite a few colleagues from the industry came to encourage him at his premiere. “It really meant a lot to me. It was really nice because they didn’t have to come. It really touched me.”
Faced with the media coverage of the “Lacroix affair”, several artists had cut contact with the comedian in 2020. “I realized that we were more colleagues than friends,” he said. But ultimately, I managed to rebuild friendships outside the industry with these people. Before, we were friends because we were in the same environment. There, we are friends because on a human level, we get along well.”
Step by step
After everything he has experienced for almost four years, does Julien Lacroix feel that he has found his place in the world of humor? “I feel since I started the shows once more that I have found my place in the eyes of the public,” he replies. In the eyes of the community, yes, but more quietly. The first one [médiatique] is a great step forward, we continue step by step.”
How does he see the future, now that his show is officially launched?
“I can’t wait to see how long the tour will be,” he said. I don’t think I’ll do this show for seven years. I feel like he’s going to have his day. […] I never stopped writing and continued to dream of fiction projects. Is all this going to see the light of day? I hope so.”
Julien Lacroix will also get involved with the Le Grand Chemin centers, for which he is the new spokesperson. This organization welcomes young people aged 12 to 17 struggling with addictions. “I wondered if what I had experienced might be of any use,” he says of the therapy he underwent to deal with his addiction problems. I’m really proud of that. That’s something concrete.”
