Oliver Kahn was very much in focus this weekend. The top game once morest BVB, the discussion with Lothar Matthäus. Finally, the FCB boss was a guest on Sky 90.

Munich – Oliver Kahn probably knew what was in store for him this weekend. After all, a lot had happened in the past two weeks since FC Bayern’s last Bundesliga game.

The fact that things got so wild in the end should have surprised the record champions’ CEO. The tangible discussion with Lothar Matthäus live on Sky before the top game once morest BVB. Then the attack from Nagelsmann management and the subsequent support from sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.

The sporting aspect took a back seat. Thomas Tuchel made his debut with a 4-2 win in the Allianz Arena. Only little was said regarding it. But Kahn commented on all the other topics at the end of the intensive weekends on Sunday evening Sky90.

Oliver Kahn at Sky90 regarding …

… the skiing holiday statements from Uli Hoeneß: “I don’t want to start the ‘What if?’ debates right now. start, I’ve tried to make the decision making clear. There is little point in going into the details now. You also have to accept that we have now made a decision.”

… the argument with Matthäus in front of the Sky cameras and whether something gets stuck: “What do you mean, something sticks? It’s regarding Lothar’s statement that we trampled on the ‘Mia san mia’. You have to be very careful there. Especially if he then names any sources. Hasan and I have been FC Bayern for over 20 years. We raised the ‘Mia san mia’ with mother’s milk. But of course times have changed. The theme of what ‘Mia san mia’ means would also be full-length. I think Didi (Hamann, Sky expert in the studio, editor’s note.) can still remember, we played together with Lothar. It got loud at times. That’s also the ‘Mia san mia’, that you sometimes argue and deal with each other.”

FCB boss Kahn wants to tick off the Nagelsmann issue: “We don’t have to worry regarding Julian”:

… Julian Nagelsmann and whether he missed something in leading a star squad like FC Bayern: “We followed Julian’s path and were convinced that he had what it takes. The five-year contract was also somewhat symbolic. I don’t have to attack Julian now, we’ve always had an open relationship. I am convinced that he will use the experience. With his quality, you don’t have to worry regarding him.”

… the way of compensation with Nagelsmann: “You have to see that now, I can’t imagine that he will be a coach anywhere else this year. It all has to settle down now. But the way I met him, he loves football and he will be back soon.”

… statements by Nagelsmann management: “With all love, I understand that there is a demand. But I don’t want to talk any further regarding how the decision came regarding. The situation is what it is. We’re glad we won the game yesterday.”

... other top European clubs hanging on to their coach: “That’s comparing apples to oranges. It’s a completely different situation with Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp. I only ever hear pressure when you come to Bayern. But that’s also the fascination. But if we come to the conclusion that the team’s performance has deteriorated and are no longer convinced of it, then we have an obligation to act.

Oliver Kahn on Sky90 regarding Sadio Mané’s problem: “He’s still looking for it”

… the right position for Sadio Mané: “Sadio is a phenomenon in his own way. He is still looking for FC Bayern. He gets all the support from us, from those responsible and also from the coach. We would wish that the performance explosion would come. He showed at Liverpool what kind of player he can be.”

... Manx Problem: “Take the Champions League final he played with Liverpool. Then he came over the outside. But we have a lot of competition there. He doesn’t know that and maybe he’s not used to it. He has also played in the center before, but then came Choupo, with his outstanding form. Like every player, he is currently in a competitive battle.”

... Harry Kane and whether this is a topic on Säbener Straße: “For us, only the next two months are an issue. They’ll be exhausting enough.”

Fine for Manuel Neuer? Oliver Kahn at Sky90: “We are in exchange”

… Manuel Neuer and his state of health: “Manuel is on the right track, but it’s not an easy situation for him. But he has proven in the past that he can fight his way back. We hope he returns soon.”

… a possible subsequent punishment because of the interview: “We are in exchange. We talk. Everything and nothing in life is possible.”

…the fact that they haven’t been fined because Neuer has done so much for the club: “Yes, that’s the way it goes. Manuel has done an incredible amount for the club. With some distance, if you look back on the matter. FC Bayern has always distinguished itself by not forgetting its achievements.”

… the possibility that Toni Tapalovic might return: “No, we made a clear decision there.” (smk)
