Julian Nagelsmann wants to replace Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski’s farewell has left a huge hole in Bayern’s offensive. According to consistent media reports, Bayern are not pushing to sign a replacement for the Pole this summer. Reason: Julian Nagelsmann relies on a double leadership with Sadio Mané and Serge Gnabry.

FC Bayern have to compensate for 40-50 goals due to the departure of Robert Lewandowski in the coming season. The 33-year-old was a real goalscorer and will be difficult to replace. Bayern have been linked with numerous attackers in recent weeks, but it seems Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t want to sign a new center forward at all.

According to reports, the 34-year-old is mainly relying on Sadio Mané and Serge Gnabry, who will play in the center of the attack in the new season. As has now become known, Nagelsmann is even planning with a dual leadership of Mané-Gnabry.

“The scorer points must now be distributed over several shoulders”

As the “tz” reports, Nagelsmann would like to increasingly rely on a 3-5-2 system in the future. With the signing of Noussair Mazraoui, the FCB coach has a new right-wing player who fits perfectly into Nagelsmann’s desired system. In addition, both Gnabry and Mané can play centrally. Both have done this frequently in the past. Mané at Liverpool FC, Gnabry in the German national team.

Despite Lewandowski’s farewell, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic sees Bayern well positioned on the offensive: “We have Sadio, Leroy, King, Serge, Thomas, Jamal, Choupo. Moderating that is a big task and a huge quality.”

The 45-year-old also emphasized that Nagelsmann feels very comfortable with this line-up and that the FCB strikers will now have significantly more freedom without Lewandowski: “Lewa’s departure can also be a liberation for the other boys. His scorer points now have to be spread over several shoulders.”
