Julia Navalnaja is the brand new chairperson of the Human Rights Basis

The Human Rights Basis (HRF) declares the brand new chief in a press launch.

Julia Navalnaja says that being elected chairman of the human rights group:

– As somebody who has personally witnessed the risk that dictatorships pose to our family members and the world, I’m honored to take over this position, she says.

The Human Rights Basis (HRF) works with activists in authoritarian regimes to advertise democracy and freedom of expression. Navalny takes over from Garry Kasparov, who has held workplace for 3 phrases.

– Julia’s dedication to justice is inspiring. HRF will proceed to make a distinction within the struggle for human rights, he says.

Navalnaja visited Oslo in June to obtain the Oslo Freedom Discussion board’s human rights award on behalf of her late husband. Navalny died in a penal colony in Russia in February. There he served time following being convicted of various offences, which he and his supporters believed had been politically motivated.

Since her husband’s loss of life, Navalnaya has continued his struggle towards Putin’s regime. Throughout the Russian elections in March, she urged individuals to write down Navalny on their ballots, or to vote for candidates apart from present President Vladimir Putin.
