The Judicial Commission has nominated all the judges of the Sindh High Court for a short term to the constitution bench, while a meeting will be held again on November 25 for the nomination of judges to form the constitution bench of the Sindh High Court.
A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, however, the announcement of the meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan was issued.
In the ongoing announcement of the Judicial Commission meeting, it is said that the second meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan constituted under the 26th constitutional amendment was held in the Supreme Court today at 2 pm, the meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Judicial Commission, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
Supreme Court’s senior-most Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Constitution Bench Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan participated in the meeting while Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel participated through video link.
Decision to take action against those who file ridiculous complaints against judges
Apart from this, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar, Attorney General Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan, Senator Farooq Hamid Naik, Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, Member National Assembly Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Member National Assembly Umar Ayub Khan, Roshan Khurshid, Sindh Law Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar and Sindh Bar Council member Qurban Ali Milanu also attended the meeting while the Registrar of the Supreme Court also attended as Commission Secretary.
According to the statement, during the meeting, the single point agenda of constitution bench in Sindh High Court was considered. All the present judges of the Sindh High Court were nominated as judges of the Constitution Bench till 24th November 2024.
The next meeting of the Judicial Commission for the nomination of judges for the Constitution Bench of the Sindh High Court will be held again on 25 November 2024.
Speaking to the media after the Judicial Commission meeting, Chief Law Minister Nazir Tarar said that the names of various judges have been considered, and all judges of the Sindh High Court can hear constitutional cases by November 25.
He further said that due to the flight of Justice Mandukhel, he joined the meeting for some time, due to the illness of the wife of member Akhtar Hussain, he also did not join.
According to the announcement, all the judges of the Sindh High Court will be able to continue working for the constitutional benches till November 24. The next meeting of the Judicial Commission will be held on November 25.
It should be noted that on November 5, a 7-member constitutional bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan was established in the Judicial Commission of Pakistan meeting presided over by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
