THE AUDIENCE conducted by Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the family of Dini Sera Afrianti as one form of carrying out the supervisory function of the DPR. Member of Commission III of the DPR Santoso when contacted, Tuesday (30/7) said that similar audiences are often conducted especially by Commission III of the DPR in several cases involving the judiciary.
“We often receive complaints like this. And in Dini’s case, the report came first from the deceased’s family who wrote to us, then a meeting was held with the family, lawyers and the NGO Bu Rieke Diah Pitaloka,” he said.
According to Santoso, this case has received public attention since the beginning. With the strange court decision that gave a free sentence to the defendant Gregorius Ronald Tannur, the DPR must pay attention.
“This is too strange. The judge’s decision is too far from the demands of the public prosecutor. He (Ronald Tannur) should have been punished,” he said.
From the statement submitted by the public prosecutor, the judge was deemed to have disregarded the evidence presented in the trial.
“Indeed, we respect the independence of the judge. But in the evidence there are serious injuries that resulted in death,” he said.
