New York Yankees players and managers Aaron Judge and Aaron Boone have refused to respond to criticism from a Staten Island Little League coach who claimed that “The Judge” ignored his players.
The incident reportedly occurred during the Bronx Bombers’ visit to the Little League World Series.
According to Staten Island Advance manager Bob Laterza, Judge did not want to spend time with his team before Sunday’s Little League Classic against the Detroit Tigers in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
He said the slugger ignored the players who were calling his name when he was in the on-deck circle.
The Yankees, for their part, issued a statement regarding the team’s visit to the Little League World Series.
“Our entire roster spent the day in Williamsport, connecting with as many Little League players as possible, including the Staten Island team,” the document details.
Judge was seen interacting with several children, along with fellow players Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Giancarlo Stanton. Chisholm even gave the boys some souvenirs and videotaped the encounter, while Stanton showed them how to hold a bat.
“We had a chance to spend a lot of time with some of the guys in Williamsport and take back some great memories. We had a great time at the park,” Judge added.— AP
