The night at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium witnessed the victory (2-3) of Juárez, who took away the possibility of “breathing” from Puebla.
When it seemed that the first half would be forgotten, the Bravos de Juárez opened the scoring. A goal from Jairo Torres broke the tension in the thirty-ninth minute.
The rest of the first chapter was between injuries and promises of goals that did not come. Moments later, the whistle blew and again, the ball rolled.
“La Franja” was exciting in the forty-seventh minute, when Luis Quiñones tied the game. A goal that will remain in memory, because in this match, the Colombian made his debut with Puebla.
However, the locals’ hope disappeared at sixty-seven, when the Braves’ second goal fell. José Manríquez finished inside the area and with it, sealed the fate of the duel.
Not even eight added minutes changed the situation. At ninety-four, Oscar Estupiñán gave the Braves the third, allowing them a joy in the tournament, since they occupy the last place in the table.
And although Quiñones scored a double in ’98, it was not enough.
Juárez will see action again on the eleventh date of Apertura 2024, when they visit Santos Laguna at the Corona Stadium. This, while Puebla will seek to emerge unscathed against Tigres at the University Stadium.
