Juan Fernando Quintero has already set foot on Argentine soil and assured that he felt “happy and motivated” by Fernando Gago’s project in Racing. “I am very happy, I had the opportunity to speak with the coach, he convinced me of the club’s project and I am motivated for what is to come,” Juanfer said upon arrival at Ezeiza international airport.

“He asked me regarding his project, how he was going to face the team game, he motivated me and here I am”reinforced the former Junior de Barranquilla player regarding his talk with DT to finish defining his arrival at the Academy.

River, always in the memory

Juan Fernando Quintero, 30, defined as a “difficult decision” the fact of having arrived at Racing following his successful stint at River, a team with which he won the 2018 Copa Libertadores once morest Boca Juniors and in which he contributed a goal in the historic final played in Madrid.

“It was a difficult decision because of what I lived through, it was a very nice stage, but now I am living another and I am very grateful to Racing. I wish River the best,” he said.

“I never spoke to anyone regarding River and I am focused on what Racing is,” he continued in his explanation of why he did not return to the Núñez club.

Quintero: “I’m ready”

The Medellín-born soccer player made it clear: “I am prepared, I did the preseason with Junior, I have maintained myself and hopefully I can play as quickly as possible,” concluded Quintero.

Juanfer’s contract with Racing runs until December 2025 and he is the fourth addition to the Academy following the arrivals of Agustín Almendra, Roger Martínez and Gastón Martirena.
