The Colombian artist Juanes had to suspend the concert he had planned to offer this Wednesday, July 12, in Central Park, in New York, due to the bad behavior of some of the attendees.

This show, which was free and open-air, had been scheduled by the Summerstage festival and LAMC (Latin Alternative Music Conference), however, it was marred by incidents that forced the authorities to make the decision to cancel the event. .

Via Twitter, Summerstage explained that the event drew a crowd of 5,000 inside the venue, while an additional 12,000 fans failed to enter. Given the continuous crowd at the doors and as a precaution, they had to make the decision to stop the show and ask the fans to leave the place.

At that time, Juanes had already performed Gris, his most recent release, and his classic Mala gente. As public excitement began to rise, the show was abruptly canceled to everyone’s disappointment.

“For the first time in 30 years, SummerStage had to halt an ongoing concert due to a non-weather related issue,” said Heather Lubov, executive director of City Parks Foundation SummerStage.

Both SummerStage and LAMC and Juanes himself agreed that the safety of the attendees was paramount, so they reached an agreement to cancel the show.

“Very sad that we mightn’t finish our show, but I want you to know that safety will always come first for us, above anything else. So I hope I can see you very soon. I love you very much and I hope you understand that this was a force majeure and that it is getting out of hand, ”said the Colombian in a video on his social networks.

Some of the attendees who went to see Juanes’ show shared photos and videos of the situation:
