Juan Sutil: “We are going to see company bankruptcies and job losses”

At the end of Enagro 2022 -agricultural business meeting-, the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), Juan Sutil, referred to the panorama of the different productive sectors. “They all require support,” he said, but among them he specifically highlighted that they are “facing a very serious situation in the construction industry, which mobilizes many jobs.”

“We are already undergoing reorganizations, which is a formula for dealing with the problems of the crisis. We are going to see company bankruptcies and we are going to see job losses,” lamented the leader.

However, he argued that all sectors have an opportunity. “That’s why I talk regarding putting Chile in motion (…). Today is the time for rationality, good dialogue and looking for what families and people want and need”, he affirmed.

Sutil pointed out that the country must carry out a Constitution “well done and that unites us all Chileans”; a tax reform that provides stability and allows long-term investments, in addition to generating more jobs and collecting social benefits; and a pension reform that focuses both on current and future pensions.

With all of the above, the CPC helmsman said that none of this would be possible without resolving the problems of violence and insecurity in the country. “That is a government job. Only from the government and government institutions,” Sutil settled.
