Juan Pablo Guanipa sees pressure as key to recognizing González Urrutia’s “victory”

Caracas, Aug 16 (EFE).- Anti-Chavez leader Juan Pablo Guanipa described this Friday “Fundamental” is the pressure inside and outside Venezuela for the Government to “recognize” the “victory” of the standard-bearer of the majority opposition, Edmundo González Urrutiain the presidential elections of July 28, in which President Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner by the electoral body.

On the eve of a worldwide demonstration called by the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) – the largest opposition bloc – Guanipa said that Citizens have “the right and the obligation to protest, to fight and to demand that the truth be recognized,” That is to say, González Urrutia “is the president-elect.”

“It is very important that all Venezuelans and all friends of this beautiful country go out this Saturday, August 17, to express our indignation and our hope. Maduro has been exposed in his lie and our internal and international pressure will be fundamental in the acceptance of the truth,” said the former deputy.

The PUD insists on González Urrutia’s victory based on the “83.5%” of the “records” that it claims to have obtained through witnesses and members of the polling station in the elections, something that the Maduro government considers false, although the UN panel of experts sent to Venezuela concluded that these papers “exhibit all the security devices of the original results protocols.”

Nineteen days after the elections, the National Electoral Council (CNE) has still not published the disaggregated results and minutes, which has been questioned by numerous countries and organizations, which are calling for transparency on the part of the institution, while the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) is carrying out a controversial process for its “validation.”

The opposition coalition estimates that thousands of Venezuelans will mobilize in more than 300 cities around the world this Saturday, when Chavismo also called for a protest in the Caribbean country, in support of its leader.
