Guatemalan sailor Juan Ignacio Maegli competed in Parisian waters and closed his activity on the day of adaptation at the Olympic Games.

The sixth day arrived for the Guatemalan competitors at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after Erick and José Barrondo competed in race walking; it was the turn for Juan Ignacio Maegli in sailing navigation.

The Bay of Marseille was the place where the Guatemalan Juan Ignacio Maegli debuted in his fifth Olympic Games.

The event, initially scheduled for 4:15 a.m. but suffered a delay of almost an hour, finally starting at 5:10 a.m., due to adverse weather conditions that made it impossible to start at the scheduled time.

In the first race of the day, Maegli encountered a series of challenges that led him to finish in the position 21; started at the first mark in position 38, was from the third brand that remained in 21st place and by remaining in that position you get the same amount of points.

In the second race that was delayed, finished in 22nd placea lower position that is disappointing because of how Maegli started, was in the second brand in the fifteenth (15) positionin the third he dropped to 19 and finally ended up where he started, in the 23rd.

In the overall result, Juan Ignacio is placed in 24th place, below three Latin contenders: The Salvadoran Enrique Arathoonthe Chilean Clement Seguel and the leader of the first day, Stephen Peschiera from Peru.

Maegli will continue with the activity this Friday 2nd of August with the third and fourth races, respectively, at 7:35 hours in Guatemala.
