The name of Juan Carlos Unzué is widely associated with the golden age of FC Barcelona, from the return of Johan Cruyff in 1988 to the last Blaugrana success in the Champions League in 2015. He was first Cruyff’s substitute goalkeeper then, following a long tenure in Seville, the goalkeeper coach of Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola, and finally the assistant of Luis Enrique. Unzué contributed to three (2006, 2009 and 2015) of the Catalan club’s five Champions Leagues, before becoming number one coach himself at Celta Vigo and then Girona.
