JT Poston didn’t do well in the fourth round of the John Deere Classic on Sunday in Silvis, Ill., but that didn’t stop him from claiming the second PGA Tour title of his career.
The American golfer’s 69 (-2) card was enough to win. Curiously, his performance has continued to decline since the start of the event, he who had known, in order, rounds of 62, 65 and 67.
Recall that Poston also signed a second place in the Travelers Championship last week, so far his best result of the season.
Poston started Sunday with a bang, scoring birdies on the top three pennants. He was only able to add one more in the next 15 holes, however, and committed three bogeys.
The 29-year-old finished the tournament at -21, three strokes ahead of his closest pursuers. South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout (66) and Argentinian Emiliano Grillo (69) tied for second at -18.
Canadian Michael Gligic can say mission accomplished, he who reached the top 10 for the second time in his career and for the first time this season on the PGA Tour. He hit the white object 69 times on Sunday, tied for 10th with Americans Patrick Flavin and Chesson Hadley at -14.
The only other representative of the Maple Leaf still in contention, Adam Svensson, struggled in the fourth round, his worst of the tournament (71). He scored two double bogeys, but made up for it with four birdies. The BC native finished tied for 24th at -11.
