JRF Exceeds International Standards for Marathon Events

AS many as 16 thousand runners took part in the 2024 Jakarta Running Festival (JRF) which took place last weekend. In this event, 22 water stations were a factor in the organizers’ success in maintaining participants’ mineral needs.

The number of water stations exceeds international standards. In marathon events, international standards for the number of water stations are set by World Athletics. Generally water stations must be placed at a maximum interval of every 5 km.

Meanwhile, the distance between each water station that provides Le Minerale as official mineral water at JRF 2024 has been shortened to every 2.5 km.

“Reflecting on several international marathon events, we found that runner comfort is greatly influenced by the availability of water stations. Therefore, at JRF 2024, the number of Le Minerale water stations will be increased to 22 points, exceeding international standards. This is of course part of “We are committed to maintaining the safety and comfort of runners,” explained Donny Tjahyadikarta, Race Director of the Jakarta Running Festival 2024 in his statement, Monday (14/10).

Apart from the number of water stations, the selection of mineral water partners has also gone through a strict process. Dickie Widjaja, CEO of PT Anak Bangsa Running Group (KLAB), stated that adequate mineral requirements are very important for runners’ performance.

“Therefore, we have to ensure that the JRF 2024 event provides mineral water which is not only able to rehydrate but also replenish mineral needs during running. And after going through a selection process, we chose Le Minerale, whose mineral quality is guaranteed. This is proven by the content information minerals listed on the bottle. This is a guarantee for us.”

Medical support for the importance of minerals was also reinforced by Dr. Antonius Andi Kurniawan Sp KO, Medical Director of JRF 2024. “Runners must have sufficient fluids and minerals before and after running. This is not only about comfort, but also maintaining performance and health during the race.”
