Journalists and friends mourn the death of Albino Capitango – Jornal OPaís

Journalists from the province of Huíla and beyond, as well as friends of Albino Capitango, mourn his physical death that occurred in the early evening of last Saturday, 23rd, in the neighboring Republic of Namibia, victim of a prolonged illness

Albino Capitango Sacafundi had been admitted to one of the hospital units, in the neighboring Republic of Namibia, since the second half of the current month and year, where he was recovering from a lung disease.

The news of his death was received by his professional colleagues and friends with sadness and consternation. Morais Silva, delegate from the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP) said that he met Albino Capitango in one of the presidential coverages, in the municipality of Matala.

The time spent together, said Morais da Silva, revealed in journalist Albino Capitango a young man with a thirst for learning, without ever neglecting his humility.

“I met him on a visit by PR José Eduardo dos Santos to Matala, at the time, Rádio Huíla was opening its permanent station. The last time we were together he complained a little regarding his health, but said he was recovering.

I followed his performance, especially on the “Jindundo” program on Saturdays, and in the Sunday newspapers. He was creative and versatile.

Of a humility that is uncommon these days”, he described. For his part, Albano Luís, a long-time friend of journalist Albino Capitango, says that anyone who met Capitango was immediately infected by the positive energy he transmitted.

“Those who were lucky enough to cross his path know what a magnificent, luminous, generous, good-humored and loving person he always was.

They also know how much the hearts of our friends and family, in particular my heart, are hurt by his disappearance, which leaves a void in our lives.

We were always together in good times, he would call if there was a problem, I remember that before his appearance on the radio, he had an innate talent for imitations that provoked unanimous laughter at our large tables of friends and family, in particular” he said.

Jacob César, journalist in the province of Benguela, co-religionist of journalist Albino Capitango in the Evangelical Congregational Church (IECA), describes his companion as a true brother.

“I am a church brother and friend of Albino Capitango. Certainly, we already share the same stage in the presentations of activities of the middle society of our church. I was your younger brother’s teacher.

Anyway, the news of his death, which was transmitted to me by his brother, from Luanda, was a very hard blow for me”, he stated.

Albino Capitango Sacafundi, was born in the commune of Malipi, municipality of Quipungo, in the province of Huíla, has a degree in psychology teaching from the Instituto Superior de Ciéncias da Educação (ISCED/HUÍLA) and joined the staff of Rádio Mais/Huíla, following a long stint at Emissora Provincial da Huíla, part of the Rádio Nacional de Angola group.

Failed leaves a widow and three minor daughters. Albino Capitango Sacafundi, born on 26/12/1989, in the town of Malipi, municipality of Quipungo, graduated in Psychology Teaching, from ISCED-HUÍLA, began his professional career at Rádio Huíla, in 2012, at the fixed post in Matala.

In 2015, following the selection process, he was selected and joined Rádio Mais – Huíla. For 9 years, he worked as a journalist, excelling in the areas of reporting, writing and editing news. He leaves a wife and 3 daughters.

The Secretariat of the Union of Angolan Journalists, in Huíla, also lamented the death of journalist Albino Capitango. In the note signed by Amílcar Silvério, the loss of the young journalist is lamented and bows before his memory.

“The death of Albino Capitango, a journalist from Rádio Mais, constitutes a great blow, not only for the Media Nova Group, where he was linked until the day of his death, but also for all journalists in the province of Huíla, and in the country of a in general, for the way in which he carried out his duties”, reads the note.

Along the same lines, the provincial secretary of UNITA in Huíla, Augusto Samuel, expressed his condolences, describing Albino Capitango as a journalist who complied with the standards of the profession, especially when dealing with issues linked to political parties.

“My condolences go out to the bereaved family, Rádio Mais and the journalistic class at HUÍLA and beyond. Capitango was, in fact, a great patriot, he was one of those journalists who did his work with responsibility, impartiality and impartiality. He carried out his reports with the sole interest of serving the public. May his soul rest in peace,” he wrote.
