Journalist Amr Adeeb commented on the statement issued by the Public Prosecution, this Sunday evening, regarding the imprisonment of the accused in the death of Al-Arish medical student Naira Salah Al-Zoghbi.
He said during his presentation of the “Al-Hekaya” program, broadcast on MBC Misr satellite channel, on Sunday evening, that the statement included two clear facts: The first is that the girl bought the grain from a store, noting that “that pill is a disaster in Egypt because it explodes in the stomach.”
He pointed out that the second fact is that the prosecution followed all the steps of the girl before she was killed, saying that “the possibilities indicate that the girl committed suicide because she bought a grain of cereals.”
He stated that the prosecution noted in its statement that it was waiting for the forensic report, adding: “The statement talks regarding cameras, photography, surveillance, and witnesses, and the prosecution’s statement always tells us the truth.”
He pointed out that the statement and the incident are “an example to those who think so,” concluding: “The incident teaches us to completely stop anyone who thinks he is bullying people. We are facing a felony and a misdemeanor.”
The Public Prosecution completed investigations into the death of the student, “Naira Salah El-Din Al-Zoghbi,” enrolled in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Al-Arish University. It was determined from the investigations, which included questioning witnesses to the incident, and investigations by the security authorities, that the deceased was subjected to psychological pressure resulting from one of her colleagues (the first accused) threatening her to publish correspondence that she reported. Surreptitiously from the deceased’s phone to her phone, she sent it to her colleague (the second accused), who in turn posted on the WhatsApp group that includes all the students of the university’s batch that one of the students (without mentioning her specifically) had correspondence and pictures of her own, threatening to publish them at a time when The students chose him over the “group,” and this was accompanied by his request that she apologize for the insult she had done to the first accused.
The Public Prosecution charged the two defendants with threatening in writing to disclose matters related to private life accompanied by a request, “a felony,” and assaulting the sanctity of the victim’s private life, “a misdemeanor.” It ordered them to be held in pretrial detention pending investigations, and to seize their and the victim’s cell phones in order to complete the procedures related to them.
