The Mélopée festival, a chamber music festival in Josselin, will take place from Friday August 12 to Sunday August 14, in different places in Josselin. Over the weekend, spectators will be able to hear the Psophos Quartet, cellist Gauthier Herrmann and Nicolas Baldeyrou, clarinetist with the Orchester National de France…

This Tuesday, August 9, Emmanuelle Bordon, president of the association Mélopée d’art et culture, accompanied by Lionel Gaboriau and Brigitte Malboeuf, reciprocally vice-president and treasurer, invited, to the chapel of the Congregation, the headliner of the festival: The Psophos Quartet: Mathilde Borsarello Herrmann, Bleuenn Le Maître, Cécile Grassi and Guillaume Martigné. Together, they announced the detailed program for the 3 days of the festival.

The municipality of Josselin and the Château des Rohan being partners of the festival, Fanny Larmet, the cultural assistant at the town hall of Josselin and Flore Leclercq, the person in charge of the castle were also present…

The presence of these 4 musicians is a godsend for the festival! Having won first prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux in 2001, they were also the first French quartet to be selected by the prestigious New Generation Artist of the BBC, then nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in 2005…

At the origin of the festival, there was the crush of the quartet for Josselin! Attached now to this thousand-year-old city, it will be for this second edition that the Quatuor Psophos will perform in Josselin, perhaps also because Mathilde Borsarello Herrmann’s maternal grandmother is from the town…

Several concerts will resound, in various places of the city, to attract music lovers, families, passing visitors, locals and make them discover the masterpieces of chamber music, and offer them unforgettable musical moments.

A veritable musical wandering intended to make the general public discover that, contrary to popular belief, chamber music is a popular art. Get caught up in the game…
