Josep Borrell reiterates to Edmundo González the need to disclose the electoral records

It was learned that this Monday The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Affairs, Josep Borrell, held a conversation with the presidential candidate of the Unitary Platform, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiaregarding the verification of the electoral records of the elections of July 28 in Venezuela,

In conversation with Edmundo González I have reaffirmed the EU’s position: Publication and verification of the minutes, an end to repression and the need for a dialogue with guarantees that reflects the popular will“, Borrell posted through his X account.

He also stated that the announcement of these results corresponds to the National Electoral Council (CNE).

It should be remembered that the electoral body proclaimed Nicolás Maduro president on July 29 without having obtained the transmission of 100% of the electoral records, which is why both the opposition and part of the international community have questioned these results.

To argue these differences, The EU has urged the administration of Nicolás Maduro to release the electoral records so that the results can be recognised, the same ones that Chavismo attributes to him, while the opposition maintains that González Urrutia is the winner by a wide margin.
