SPAIN striker Joselu says he is ready to ‘retire’ Toni Kroos on Friday (July 5) when Spain meet hosts Germany in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

This match might be Kroos’ last as a professional footballer following he announced that Euro 2024 would be his final competition before retiring.

Joselu, Kroos’ former teammate at Real Madrid, said his team was ready to face Germany in the last eight.

“We hope that this match will be the last for Kroos. It’s a great match not only because it’s once morest him, but also once morest a great team. We want to retire Toni on Friday,” Joselu said as quoted by BetweenWednesday (3/7).

On this occasion, Joselu also praised his former teammate by calling Kroos an important player both at club and in his country.

“I speak to him often and he also gives me a lot of advice. He is an important player for the German national team and Real Madrid. We have to be wary of him on Friday,” said Joselu, who will play for Qatari club Al-Gharafa next season.

Meanwhile, Kroos responded to Joselu’s statement as something that normally happens before a match.

“It’s normal, they want to win the tournament. I will try everything to make sure that doesn’t happen. They are here to win, and so are we. We’ll see what happens on Friday. The important thing is that they don’t want to retire me in Madrid. They are my friends,” said Kroos.

The quarter-finals of Euro 2024 will open with a meeting between the two favorite teams to win, namely the host Germany once morest Spain at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, Berlin, Friday (5/7) at 23.00 WIB. (Z-6)
