Judge Jorge Luis Chavez Tamarizof the Seventh National Preparatory Investigation Court, issued 34 months of preventive detention for the virtual councilor of Metropolitan Lima for Podemos Peru, Jose Luna Moralesin the framework of the investigation for the alleged crimes of criminal organization and specific active bribery in the case previously known as The Gangsters of Politics.
The magistrate considered that there are “serious and well-founded elements of conviction” regarding the alleged participation of Luna Morales in the criminal organization that, according to the prosecutor’s thesis, would have bought the wills of Guido Eagle Degrees, Ivan Noguera Ramos y Julius Gutierrez Pebe when they served as advisers to the deactivated National Council of the Judiciary (CNM).
The objective of the takeover of the CNM was to appoint Adolfo Castillo Meza as head of the National Office of Electoral Processes and, consequently, achieve the alleged fraudulent registration of Podemos Peru.

Obstruction
One of the aspects that the magistrate took into account to access the fiscal requirement was the behavior of José Luna Morales in the preliminary investigation. In this regard, he determined that there was a concealment of information on contracts of the former directors.
Likewise, he recalled that he maintains links with people who held or hold public office, such as his father, Congressman José Luna Gálvez; former ministers; and other political figures.
“Nothing guarantees that the organization of the Judicial Power itself or third parties will be used to evade justice,” Judge Chávez Tamariz warned.
