The two José Luises (Aguirre and Serrano) unite their art in the place where they were born, in the show “Dos chuncanos”. It will be this Saturday at the cultural center of the creator of Doña Jovita, in Villa Dolores.

They already have demand to appear in different parts of Córdoba and Buenos Aires. Songs by the two minstrels, and the humor of the old mountain woman, make up a show that has raised high expectations.

The two were born in different neighborhoods of the “capital” of Traslasierra, at different times. But they were united by committed art, the rescue of the place without picturesqueness and the defense of social goods such as water or the forest. His creations transcended the country with various scrolls. The tune and the humor are also part of a common code.

José Luis Serrano, singer-songwriter and actor, created Doña Jovita 38 years ago, an icon of mountain and family humor, who transcended much more than her songs and poems.

José Luis Aguirre, singer-songwriter and writer, author of five albums and two books, is one of the most followed and respected new voices in Argentine folklore.

“One day we met in Luyaba, and we decided to go up together and play, we started making a song each, and a talk; until at one point I began to characterize myself as Jovita while he continued singing; That’s how the idea of presenting ourselves together was born,” says Serrano. And he adds: “I am very moved by what José Luis does, I think we both come from a tradition of authors and minstrels who once defended what is ours.”

Aguirre, meanwhile, states: “We want to say that we are here too, we have this way of thinking, being, feeling, we believe that we are linked to the social, to nature, childhood, humor, the region, the landscape ; and we do what we are.”

“For me it is a great honor to feel respected by an artist like Serrano, and to be able to share this mission with him,” completed the creator of “Chuncano”, which in 2020 won the Gardel Award for Best Folklore Artist Album.

The presentation is this Saturday at 10 p.m. at the María Lolo cultural center, at Yrigoyen 150, in Villa Dolores.

“As they find out, they call us from different places to see us together, from different provinces and from Buenos Aires, but we still cannot talk regarding dates, each one has their personal commitments,” Serrano explained.
