(in Jimmy Carr’s voice) Ah, politics, folks! Always a joy to watch a bunch of self-serving, backstabbing, arse-kissers vying for power. (pauses for comedic effect) I mean, who wouldn’t want to lead a group of people who are only in it for themselves? (winks at the camera)
So, it seems Jorge Romero Herrera has won the internal elections to become the next president of the National Action Party (PAN). Congratulations, Jorge! I’m sure it’s a real thrill-ride to be in charge of a bunch of arguments in a room. (chuckles)
According to the preliminary count, Jorge got 80% of the votes, while poor old Adriana Dávila Fernández only managed to scrape together 20%. Ah, tough luck, love. Maybe next time try not being so… (pauses for comedic effect) nice. (smirks)
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “What about the legitimacy of the process?” Well, don’t worry, Adriana’s got that covered. She’s already crying foul, claiming the election was unfair and that the numbers don’t add up. (in Rowan Atkinson’s voice) Oh dear, it’s like she’s accusing the Organizing Commission of being a bit… (pauses and looks around) dodgy. (raises an eyebrow)
(pauses and looks at the camera with a cheeky grin, à la Ricky Gervais) You know, I love how politicians always talk about unity and cooperation when they win, but when they lose, it’s always someone else’s fault. “It’s not the system, it’s the players!” (sarcastically) Yeah, yeah, we’ve all heard that one before.
(in Lee Evans’ voice) I mean, what’s the point of having a democratic election if you’re just going to question the legitimacy of it? “Oh, I didn’t win, so it must be rigged!” That’s like me saying, “I didn’t get the part in the film, so the director must have been biased against people with exceptional talent and devastating good looks!” (chuckles)
(pauses and looks at the camera with a straight face, à la Jimmy Carr) Anyway, it’s all done and dusted now. Jorge Romero Herrera is the new president of the PAN, and I’m sure he’ll do a fantastic job of… well, whatever it is politicians do these days. Maybe he’ll even manage to keep his nose clean and his hands out of the till. (winks at the camera) Wouldn’t that be something?

“Just like that, they won today. I call on the new leadership: The PAN model that you have built over the last decade does not work. I don’t know if they have the will and ethical commitment to make the PAN an institution that deserves to be heir to the democratic and liberal legacy of (Manuel) Gómez Morín,” Dávila Fernández stressed.
