Jorge Lanata’s Hospital Discharge After Pneumonia: Updates and Recovery Progress

2023-11-03 04:40:00

Jorge Lanata was discharged this Thursday from the Favaloro Foundation following having been hospitalized for two days with pneumonia. It was confirmed by Elba Marcovecchio, who assured that the journalist “is very well” and that he is “preparing” for his PPT program (El Trece), next Sunday.

Speaking to TN Show, Marcovecchio said: “He is fine. He has a small pneumonia that caught on in time. This started early on Monday and always, always, as with all people, everything that is caught in time has a much better evolution.”

“I cross my fingers, because you always have to cross your fingers. And what we noticed that is evolving well. “He is on antibiotics,” she added.

The journalist’s wife also told what the day of his hospitalization was like and what led them to make the decision to enter the clinic once more.

“On Sunday he was fine, he did the program normally, but this was at dawn on Monday morning. The hospitalization was very calm. In fact, on Monday I was here, because he was and is everything quite controlled.”

And he added, jokingly, quoting the renowned song by the group Divididos: “I had a little fever. Anyway, 38, 38.2 for him is enough… 38 is loaded.”

Then he recalled: “I had a little noise, a little something, so we talked to the doctor and he told us to go even a little later, so he might organize things. So we went to the hospital very calmly.”

Regarding the similarities and differences between this hospitalization and the previous one, the wife of the television and radio host commented: “In his other hospitalization, I mightn’t be here because the truth is we were very worried. That time there was only a little breath in the middle, when it seemed like everything was fine and then it wasn’t. But it was different, in the other one we were afraid. On this one, I’m crossing my fingers.”

Regarding Lanata’s state of mind, Marcovecchio revealed: “On Sunday he says he is going to do the program. And I tell you one thing, if it weren’t for him being there, he would already be in a position to do it. In fact, tomorrow, Jorge wants to be home because the Produ awards are broadcast. So we are waiting. But he’s all under control. If it weren’t Jorge, he would already be at home.”

This is how Lanata had announced her hospitalization

On Tuesday, the host went on air for a few minutes by telephone on his radio program Mitreand said: “They are giving me antibiotics, and that’s why I have to stay hospitalized until I get better and I can go home.”

In any case, he brought peace of mind by announcing that he will be next Sunday on Periodismo para Todos, the cycle that he conducts in The thirteen. “It’s going to be one of the few Sundays where there are no elections, no debates,” she joked.

Indeed, Lanata had returned to the screen on October 22, where she gave a shocking account of her weeks of convalescence. “I’m not going to say I was dead because I don’t know,” she said.

“I was in intensive care, intubated twice. I don’t remember anything regarding that month, or rather I remember dreams,” the journalist summarized, as a summary of his stays at the medical center.

On August 23, the driver was hospitalized for a urinary tract infection. Three weeks later he was discharged, but had to be hospitalized in less than 24 hours due to fever. He was in intensive care and was discharged on September 16.

A month ago, in dialogue with ClarionLanata went deeper: “It was a month where I was traveling, I don’t know where it is and where I don’t want to stay. What impresses me most regarding what happened is having been there and coming back. I might have not come back, I might have stayed there for two more months or I don’t know how long. That’s what impresses me a little. That and the eventuality, that we are the branch that breaks at any moment.”

And he spoke of some dreams that caused confusion: “They were trips, working… Later when I woke up I was convinced that it had happened. I asked my wife: ‘Was I in such and such a place?’. ‘No, and in such and such a place?’ neither did anyone else. We never moved from here.’ I had no doubt he had been there. It was strange.”

In September 2022, Lanata treated a “femoral nerve block” that caused pain in her hip. In April he had COVID-19 and during 2021 he also underwent surgery for a cardiac arrhythmia and an arterial pathology.

In recent years, he was hospitalized several times. In August 2020, for example, he underwent surgery, also at the Favaloro Foundation, for a boil.

In 2019, meanwhile, he was hospitalized for 11 days due to gastroenteritis. And, weeks later, he suffered from diabetic neuropathy.

The journalist’s most important surgical intervention occurred in 2015, when he received a kidney transplant that became one of the most important news of the moment, not only because of the journalist’s fame, but because the intervention was unprecedented in Argentina: the healthy mother of a sick young man agreed to donate one of his kidneys to Lanata.
