Alba, who made 459 appearances for Barcelona and won 17 titles with the club, is set to be announced as a new player at Inter Miami alongside his old teammates on July 16, according to the newspaper.
Inter Miami will have to make some adjustments to the team in order to accommodate Messi, as midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro is expected to leave the club in the coming days to make room for the Argentine star.
In a previous statement, the Argentine coach of Inter Miami, Gerardo Martino, considered that his compatriot Messi and the veteran Spaniard, Sergio Busquets, would not be on a picnic in Florida, but rather would come to win titles.
“The United States and Miami are often referred to as vacation destinations, but that is not true. They are here to compete,” Martino, who was appointed coach of Inter Miami a few days ago, said in a press conference.
